who we are

We are a church that's committed to living out the heart of God in our community and around the world.  That’s Covenant Christian Church.  If you’re spiritually restless, confused, new at discovering who God is, or you're a veteran of the faith, you’re welcome here.

Our story

Covenant was established in May of 1965 when Norman and Peggy Clear arrived from Los Angeles, CA fresh out of bible school. Their ministry began in a little church on 10th and Kelly with two families and a vision to see lives transformed by the power of God’s Word.

By the late 1970s their little church was packed out, and they knew they would have to expand for the ministry to grow. The church secured 12 acres on the south-east part of the community and began praying, giving and sacrificing to build the current facility. The doors of the 400-seat sanctuary opened in 1984.

Norman continued to pastor Covenant until 2003 when he went home to be with the Lord. But his vision carries on through current leadership and the church family that calls Covenant home. That vision will be accomplished as God’s people pray, serve and reach out to a community of people who need Jesus.

Pastor David Clear joined his father on staff in 1990 as an associate.  David and Bobbi took over as Senior Pastors when Pastor Norman went to be with the Lord in 2003.

Pastor David has the same heart for the church and city as his father and he and Bobbi continue to carry out the vision for Covenant Christian Church.

Our mission at Covenant is to become fully devoted followers of Christ and take God’s love to the world. We believe Jesus is the answer to each of life’s challenging questions and needs. Jesus said he came that we might have life – real life, not just hanging on from day to day. We want everyone in our community to experience a life of purpose and fulfillment that God always intended for them.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

We believe that the Holy Bible is the Word of the living God; and that it was written by holy men in ancient times as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We believe that there is only one true and living God. He made heaven and earth and all that is in them. He is the beginning and the end of everything and He is Love. He is holy, just and merciful. He is worthy of worship. He is a mysterious trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7)...
