Covenant Church is a place for real people. We know life is filled with ups and downs, and we want to introduce you to a very real God to help navigate all of those ups and downs. We place a high emphasis on doing life together. We look forward to meeting you and seeing where God takes us.
OUR VISION
To help people in the Mid-Columbia area to become fully devoted followers of Christ. That involves knowing God personally, growing in relationship with God and others, and sharing God’s love in our communities.
OUR VALUES
CORE VALUES are deeply held beliefs that motivate us to do the things we do. They are the things we as a church prize and emphasize. The things we value identify what we consider to be really important in ministry. They distinguish our people as a caring congregation seeking to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the residents of The Dalles, OR and surrounding communities.
We value the Lordship of Jesus Christ!
We acknowledge Jesus Christ as the head of our church and fully submit ourselves to His will. In every aspect of our ministry our goal is always to honor and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
We value Bible-centered Preaching and Teaching!
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and practice for Christians. Therefore, we submit ourselves to its teaching, commit ourselves to do what it says, and yield our lives to become what Christ desires for us to be.
We value Prayer!
We believe in the power of prayer. Therefore, the ministries and activities our church will be characterized by a reliance on personal and corporate prayer in all areas of our lives and ministry.
We value Evangelism and World Missions!
We believe in the Great Commission commanded to us by Jesus Christ and we are committed to reaching unsaved and unchurched people locally, nationally and worldwide. We will use every available Christ-honoring means to pursue, win and disciple the people in our sphere of influence.
We value the Family!
We believe God ordained the family to glorify him. We are committed to cultivate an atmosphere which promotes spiritual growth within the family by reaching families with the gospel, discipling them in Christ-like character and teaching each family member how to fulfill their God-given role. We encourage all generations to come alongside and equip families to grow in faith and maturity in Christ.
We value Loyalty to the Local Church!
We believe the purpose of church membership is to provide encouragement, nurturing and accountability to this body of believers. Therefore, we commit ourselves to regular attendance at scheduled services, faithful financial support of the church ministries and active use of our spiritual gifts and abilities by serving in the church.
We value Meaningful Authentic Worship!
Worship is our foremost value. Worship is more than a core value; it is a way of life, not just a church service! It is a lifestyle that shifts our focus from ourselves to God. God is worthy of our praise and adoration at all times. When we gather we seek to give him all the honor and glory that is due his name. We welcome and celebrate the presence of God in our corporate worship times.
We value Excellence!
We believe God values excellence as is shown through the beauty of His creation. Furthermore, he gave the best he had, his only Son, for us. Therefore, in the ministries and activities of our church we will seek to honor and glorify Him by maintaining a high standard of excellence in all that we do.
We value Authenticity!
We believe the followers of Christ should be genuine, truthful and transparent. Therefore, we are committed to cultivating a Christ-like and loving atmosphere based upon biblical unity, love and forgiveness. Our goal is to produce genuine, sincere relationships with each other. We go beyond surface-level interactions to devoted relationships by treating everyone as Jesus Christ did, with respect, dignity and love.
We value Small Groups!
We like to say we are a church “of” small groups, not “with” small groups. We believe spiritual growth happens best in a loving community. It’s difficult for intimate relationships to form and transparent conversations to happen during a Sunday morning service, but a great environment for relationships to develop is our small groups that meet in homes each week. Our commitment to small groups comes from Acts 20:20 (we call this our “20-20 vision”): You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.
