Persistent prayer is a powerful expression of faith, and Jesus taught His followers to pray continually without losing heart, even when answers seem delayed. The parable of the persistent widow shows a helpless woman who refused to give up, returning again and again to an unjust judge who neither feared God nor cared about people. Though the judge was uncaring, he eventually acted simply because her persistence wore down his resistance.
Jesus used this contrast to remind us that if an unjust judge will respond to persistence, our loving Father—who cares deeply for His people—will surely hear and answer those who cry out to Him day and night. Scripture teaches that spiritual resistance is broken when we persevere in prayer, and that God moves on behalf of those who refuse to quit. Persistent prayer positions us to receive the justice, breakthrough, and answers God desires to release into our lives.
