Jude begins by grounding believers in their identity as called, loved, and kept, reminding them that spiritual confidence comes before spiritual conflict. He urgently warns that false teachers have slipped into the church, twisting grace and undermining the authority of Christ, which is why believers must contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints. Contending is not fighting people—it is standing firm in truth, guarding the gospel, and refusing to drift with the culture. In verses 20–21, Jude gives the strategy: build yourselves up in the faith, pray in the Holy Spirit, and keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for Christ’s mercy. The message is clear—believers contend not by fear or striving, but by living anchored in truth, empowered by the Spirit, and sustained by the love of God.
