The Believer’s Inheritance, Part 2 This week’s message invites adults to take an honest look at the “inner enemies” that try to keep us from fully possessing the spiritual inheritance God has promised. Just as Israel faced the Canaanites, Hittites, Jebusites, and others, we too confront forces like fear, oppression, strife, self‑pity, and rebellion—each one reflected in the rich meanings of these ancient names. Scripture reminds us that if we allow these enemies to remain, they become “thorns in your eyes and thorns in your sides” (Numbers 33:55–56). Yet God also assures us that through Christ, “I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). This sermon encourages adults to identify these spiritual barriers, confront them with the help of the Holy Spirit, and move forward—little by little—into the freedom, unity, joy, and victory God intends for His people.
